When Survivors Get to Be Children Again

Two children sit beside a cardboard shadow puppet screen, watching a red animal-shaped silhouette projected onto a white surface. One child holds up a paper cut-out behind the screen while the other looks on. Colored paper shapes are scattered on the floor, suggesting a creative storytelling or craft activity.

From fire-breathing dragons to trotting horses, our spirited group of young artists brought their imaginations to life at a puppet-making workshop we hosted with artists from the Royal Drawing School. For these participants – survivors of abuse and trafficking at a child care institution in Delhi – the workshop created a space where they could simply be children. Where they could express themselves, play, and heal through creativity.

At iProbono, child protection goes beyond legal assistance. Our comprehensive care creates moments of joy and creative expression that help children heal and thrive. Together with partners across the UK and South Asia, we’re building safe, supportive spaces for every child.

We’re grateful to partner with The Royal Drawing School, an independent, UK-based artist-led and not-for-profit home of observational drawing founded by HM King Charles III and artist Catherine Goodman CBE LVO. Their IIFA Teaching Residency artists are bringing drawing to young people across communities, ensuring creativity is accessible to everyone, regardless of background or circumstance.
